Hello.

I'm Jane McIntyre, a voiceover and writer, formerly an award-winning BBC radio newsreader and producer. My blog covers life, love and loss; travel, coffee and chocolate; with some heartfelt pieces in the mix about my late dad, who had dementia. Just a click away, I'm half of the team behind www.thetimeofourlives.net - two empty nesters who whizzed round the world in 57 days.

Hello, who are you?!

(Follow me on Twitter? @janemcintyre12 and @normandycottage )

Hello, I just wanted to say thanks for dropping by, and either reading my blogs....or stopping *just* long enough for it to count as a page view...!

Since leaving full time work at Easter, I`ve scribbled randomly about my new freedom...learning to run...relying on my fantastic friends...and good times and bad. I`ve told you about my family, my loves and hates and some of the places I`ve visited this year, so now it`s your turn.

Checking up on who`s reading this...and where they are...it`s great to see there are readers across the UK, in the USA, in Russia, Ukraine, China, France, Germany and Italy. Among other places. And that writing about chocolate, beer, pies and age have proved the most popular topics!

But that`s all I know. So....either in a comment at the bottom of the page, or by dropping me an email via the link on my profile page, please introduce yourself and tell me where in the world you are! And if you write a blog, I`d love to return the favour and read that too.

Thanks again!

Jane.

  1. I would like to put the fantastic village of Ilchester , Somerset on your map . There is probably not much about me that you dont already know !! I share your likes of Beer , and chocolate , not a lover of pies ,, and age doesnt bother me . i am frequently being told to "grow up and act my age" as i am sure you can understand :-) . I dont write a blog but been tempted to write a book about my days as a truck driver ,,, I could call it " 50 Shades of a Grey Old Trucker " .......... Reference to your previous writings of your daughters experience when she passed out on a train ,, sad world we live in unfortunatelly . Its all to easy to read accounts of this type and say ,, " why should I bother , nobody else does , he/she wouldnt come to my aid if I fell down " But we would , i know i would , i could not step over someone in need of help , and i know you would assist . As i say ,, its a sad old world we live in . I hope the young lady made a quick recovery and is fit and well . If one the people in question was stricken down in the street , i know your daughter would be there for them .

  2. Dave has left a new comment on your post "Someone ill? Look away now....":

In answer to your multi choice question, I would go for D) think Oh crap poor bloke, Cross the road as quickly and safety as possible. (a First aider run over by a car is useless) and render aid.

Have I helped in an emergency? Oh yes, many times. I am member of St John in Shropshire. I have dealt with thing most First aider at work never come across. I, like you Jane, don't want a medal for it, it just what I do.

  3. AND FROM ERIC IN PENNSYLVANIA : Writing while on a vacation trip, I want to respond to your blog request to say hello, and thank you for following me on Twitter earlier today.

I am an artist and former designer, who lives with my wife Nancy, 2 beagles and 3 barn cats in rural Pennsylvania.

You may have seen a tweet about "Rainbow Swiss," my new signature scarf, now being promoted to help fund a project called Art with Heart, the current focus of which is to provide soothing art for Casey House, a hospice in Maryland.

You can learn more about that project, my other work, and our farm at the links following the signature.

I enjoyed reading your blog, viewing the cottage website, and hearing your audio clip. My, you are a fine writer! Articulate and polished, friendly and real, concise yet inclusive. Goodness, I almost feel that I know you!
